Lodging for DrupalCon
I have spent some time today trying to get a decent room (4 star or better) near the conf center with no luck. Many of the hotels near the airport are booked up. Is there a chance we will hear something this week regarding the block of rooms mentioned on the Logistics page? Not gripping, just trying to make a decision soon. Thanks!
Jamie

Same here. I called around to several of the nearby hotels and and didn’t have any luck. I’d prefer to get the lodging thing squared away before I register, so any update on the reserved block of rooms would be greatly appreciated.

I reserved at the Drupal reserved Holiday Inn in Somerville. It’s about 5 miles away from the convention center. There is public transportation.

If you are going to stay in a hotel, please have a look at the hotel workers’ hotel guide before making reservations.
The Hotel Worker’s union in Boston (Local 26 of UNITE HERE) has done important work in raising wages, living standards, and respect for hospitality industry employees in the area… Let’s support them when possible.
I’m looking at booking a reservation at the Holiday Inn, but I’m afraid I’m entirely unfamiliar with Boston… Anyone have an idea of how long the commute from the hotel to the convention center is? Also, I’m curious to see who else will be staying there. I’d like to commute with a few other folks if possible - and perhaps we could socialize a bit one evening. (I know there will be other networking activities too *smile)
The MBTA has a great trip planner for travel in Boston - www.mbta.com . According to their site, it is a 40 min commute to the Convention Center. Typically though from my experience, once you are there, you can find faster routes with a bit of walking. I finally found a good deal through Priceline for a place called Hotel Nine Zero - www.ninezero.com which is right downtown. Only 1.2 miles to the convention center and central to much of the downtown area. When I spoke to the reservation folks, they said they had lots of openings. It is a stones throw from the commons and back bay as well.

I’m looking for somebody sharing a room and its cost. Anyone?
I want to book a room here:
http://www.geocities.com/carruthhouse/BedandBreakfastBostonGuestRooms.ht...
It’s $95 a night for a room with twin beds. I’m female, but I grew up in a large family, I know how to share a room.
I’m open to other places as well, as this is a little far, but I want to save as much as I can, without bringing bed bugs home with me.

I’ve already found someone to share a room.
I’m booked into Hosteling International, which is about 30 minutes by subway from the conference center.
Anyone else staying there?
I would recommend looking for a short term rental of an apartment or flat. They usually end up being more economical than a hotel, can sleep several people, and usually have a kitchen. This was the route I took in Barcelona and have taken in Boston providing lodging for four pingVision employees in both cases. One place to look, for US lodging, is http://vrbo.com.
I look forward to seeing everybody in Boston!
I am male would like to save a few bucks by sharing a room with another male.
@mcneelycorp: I have possibility for staying with someone else, but if that doesn’t work out we might be able to figure things out.
I have booked a room at the same hotel that NowPublic and Raincity booked: Courtyard Marriot. The room I booked has two queen beds, and I’m looking for someone who will help share the costs. I have booked Sunday night through Thursday night. (I plan on catching a plane home after the code sprint.) The rate is $119.00+tax/night, which is about $130.54/night, so split in half is about $65.27/night.

@oadaeh, I am interested. I do not plan to stay until Thursday though. As of now I am planning to leave out Wednesday night. Would you still be interested?
@boombatower, keep me posted please. As of now I do not have a place yet.
@mcneelycorp, that’s fine with me. Contact me and we’ll work out the details.
The Ubercart Posse (Ryan Szrama and I) have reserved a triple room at a hostel 1.9 miles from the convention center called the YWCA: http://www.ywcaboston.org/berkeley/index.html
We have decided to give away the third spot as a prize in a contest!! The contest rules are simple. Post to this thread on Ubercart.org and flatter, threaten, boast, plead, or in some other way convince us you are the most deserving to win. Any argument will be considered. Ryan and I will choose a winner based solely on our personal opinion. Ryan has stated that his vote will be heavily influenced by the best Drupal or Ubercart related Haiku. I am looking for the most creative / humorous post. If anyone decided to get an Ubercart logo tattooed on their body, they automatically win!
So sharpen your wit, search wikipedia for the number of syllables in a Haiku and toss your hat in the ring!
Peace,
Andy
I confirmed my accommodations, thanks all for consideration.
I confirmed my accommodations as well. Thanks
