NowPublic and Raincity are booked: Courtyard Marriot good rates, plus daily shuttle to Drupalcon

Hi all —

Thanks to the stellar efforts of Corinn, Raincity and NowPublic have booked into the Courtyard Marriot with almost 20 people.

We’ve arranged morning and evening shuttle service to the conference center, and there are 10 more rooms available at the $129/night rate for a double room, including the shuttle service and free Internet access. Check out the blog post for full details on how to contact the hotel directly if you need a larger block of rooms.

See you in Boston!

Sweet...

My co-workers and I booked there a couple of weeks ago. Anything special we need to do to utilize the shuttle?

Don't think so

We’ll want to communicate how many people will need the shuttle, but we can do that fairly last minute. Shuttle FTW!

Can be as low as $99

I booked myself into the same hotel today, thanks to Corinn.

I found that it has even cheaper rates if you have a CAA/AAA card: $99 plus taxes.

I got mine . . .

I called last night and got a reservation. It’s a little more than I was hoping for (I don’t have CAA/AAA), but

  • I like the idea of staying where lots of other Drupal minded folks will be
  • I like the idea of the shuttle (multiple reasons there)
  • I got a price of $119,00 instead of the $129.00 I was expecting (I didn’t ask for it, he just said that was the price)
  • I got a room w/two queen beds (which their website doesn’t mention), so I can double up and save a little more
  • (Anyone open to the idea? I reserved Sunday through Thursday nights.)

I wasn’t sure what to ask for, so I mentioned the Drupal convention, and he didn’t know what I was talking about. I then mentioned Raincity and NowPublic, and he found that and gave me the room based on what ever he found there.

Count me in!

Thanks for setting this up!

Same price as oadaeh ($119) over the phone. Reviews on Travelocity aren’t great, but it looks like what I want: cheap, shuttle, laundry machine, and double queen beds. For business amenities they have outlets and speakerphones;). The internet access looks available, but wired so bring the cable. I found this on their fact sheet: http://www.marriott.com/hotels/fact-sheet/download/bosso-courtyard-bosto...

Thanks

Well done Corinn!

Like oadaeh said above, I got mine at $119 a night. I also am staying a few extra days (sunday 3/2 - sunday 3/9) and the rate is good for my entire stay. Look forward to seeing everyone there.

I’ll be staying there

I’ll be staying there also. Glad there will be a group there. If anyone staying there is from Canada I’ll bring 5 cold hard American dollars, at the current exchange rate I’m probably short changing you and please tell me if I do, if someone brings me a 12 pack of Mt. Dew. I can’t drink caffeine and those smart Canadians don’t allow caffeine in regular soda. Caffeine free Mt. Dew doesn’t exist where I live so I try to get it whenever I can.

Look forward to a week of Drupal fun.

red

P.S. add me to the shuttle needed list.

shuttle details and back via mass transit

According to the front desk, the shuttle to the conference is every hour on the hour for 24 hours.

The front desk didn’t know anything about coming back. I took the mass transit back tonite and it was a quick 20 minute trip:

Return via mass transit. $2, takes credit cards. Exit north entrance of conference center and walk halfway across the bridge. There is an escalator down to the silverline watefront line. Take inbound tram/bus to south station. Transfer to Red Line outbound to Braintree. Exit at Andrew station (about 5 minutes on subway). Walk up boston st. over bridge to hotel. Here’s a starting url, just change the time: http://www.mbta.com/ridertools/tripplanner/default.asp?sa=world+trade+center&sLocation=42.349909%3A%3A-71.041664&ea=63+Boston+St%2C+Boston%2C+MA+02125&eLocation=42.32703%3A%3A-71.058412&Arr=D&Hour=11&Minute=00&AMPM=PM&sDate=03%2F02%2F2008&mode=A&Min=X&Walkdist=0.50

I walked over from the courtyard to the conference center. It took about 1/2 hour. Pretty ugly industrial area. Might be kinda desolate/vacant in the evening as it was today (sunday) so might be a little scarey to walk at night.
