Omar is an ICT Consultant, Geographer (B.Sc.), Urban Planner (M.U.P.), teacher and activist based in Montreal.

He started using Drupal in late 2001 to replace a proprietary CMS used in the creation of cmaq.net (aka quebec.indymedia.org). In 2004 he co-founded Koumbit.org, a non-profit organisation aimed at empowering individuals and non-profits with affordable and maintainable IT solutions. Having put Drupal at the centre of its development strategy, Koumbit played a major role in the widespread adoption of Drupal throughout Quebec and quickly became the principle reference for Drupal projects in the region.
