Drupal and the Knight Foundation
Platinum and gold sponsors
SESSION OVERVIEW
Knight Foundation’s $25 million, five year, Knight News Challenge contest is contributing many new digital news and information projects to the open-source community. Drupal has emerged as a popular development platform, so Knight Foundation would like to further explore and expand its relationship with the Drupal community as a means of achieving the foundation’s goal of better informing and uniting communities in the digital age.
This panel discussion features Gary Kebbel, journalism program officer at the foundation, and last year’s News Challenge winners, Benjamin Melançon and Lisa Williams. The panel will discuss the mission of the Knight Foundation and outline its proposed role in the Drupal community. Ken Rickard of Newspapers on Drupal will host the discussion.
The Knight Foundation’s signature work is its Journalism Program. Since 1950, the foundation has invested more than $300 million to advance quality journalism and freedom of expression worldwide. Today, the program focuses on leading journalism excellence into the digital age. We define journalism excellence as the fair, accurate, contextual pursuit of truth.
