Introducing the Asset Module

SESSION OVERVIEW
The asset module is a huge push towards a unified, consistent method of digital asset management. In the age of web services and user-generated content, it is no longer acceptable to think of files located on a web server as the only type of digital assets to be managed by a CMS. Asset module provides the framework for using assets like YouTube videos and Flickr photostreams in the same manner that you would use an uploaded image.

TRACK
This session will be presented as part of the site-building track. Media and asset handling is such a key part of the success of any content-managed site, and the asset module has been used on sites like this year’s Kentucky Derby and the recently updated Amnesty International.

GOALS
First and foremost I hope to get the word out about Asset. I also want to recruit people to help with the module. Wim Mostrey has already helped a TON with this module and it’s support. Lastly, I hope to get some great ideas and inspiration for the future of this module.
