Session Description:

SESSION OVERVIEW
A lecture-style session on running Drupal with minimal resources using alternate web servers, such as LigHTTPD. It’s desirable for two different reasons to learn to do this:
1) Those with tight resources, perhaps with a low end VPS.
2) Those with high traffic that want to minimize resource usage.

AGENDA
* Why do I want a small footprint web server?
* Anatomy of a web server
* Dropping your servers shoe size
* Alternative HTTP deamons
** Sample Configuration
* Alternative Database Server Options
* How tiny can you go?
* Real world examples
* Where to go from here.

GOALS
By the end of this session participants should have an understanding of: what server resources go into running a Drupal install, why it is desirable to minimize the footprint of these resources, how to run Drupal in a small footprint, how to run a small footprint Drupal install in the real world.

RESOURCES
Participants are expected to have a moderate knowledge of Drupal, and to be comfortable working with Linux servers.
